2007年7月12日，在位于广州的某服装加工厂内，贾樟柯亲自掌机，完成了《无用》最后一个镜头的拍摄。贾樟柯以我国著名女服装设计师马可为主角的纪录片《无用》，以马可新创立的服装品牌“无用”参加2007巴黎春季时装周为中心事件，讲述了分别发生在广州、巴黎、汾阳的三段故事。<br/><br/>

《无用》历时5个月，辗转巴黎、汾阳、广州、珠海四地拍摄，贾樟柯对即将投入的剪辑工作显得相当兴奋，他也很期待看到60多个小时的素材如何变为80分钟左右的成片。在贾樟柯的构想里，《无用》应分三个段落，分别为广州篇、巴黎篇以及汾阳篇。<br/><br/>

贾樟柯分别以服装品牌“无用”、成都楼盘“24城”为片名拍摄两部作品，可以看出他对消费时代出现在我们生活中的新事物的兴趣，也延续了他对现代生活快速反应的特点。<br/><br/>
